One of Portland’s few remaining gay bars, Embers celebrated 48 years of business in 2017. The PSU Vanguard reports the owner is Steve Suss. “The main owner of our beloved club has had a massive stroke and we can no longer operate as a business,” the Embers Facebook farewell post reads. Released with little warning, the sad news is joined by more sad news.
The long-running Old Town/Chinatown gay nightclub The Embers Avenue announced yesterday that it will close after service this Thursday, November 30.
